How it works?

Simple!

First we have introductory (free) conversation. In it you tell me what is your purpose and goal in learning Serbian, how far do you want to go, and do you have some previous knowledge or not at all. 

Then we agree on weekly term for the lesson and the way of payment which suits you best. 

Before every lesson, I send to your email texts, pictures, links, grammar lessons, exercises etc. 

Then - we have normal lessons of  Serbian language. Our classroom is virtual and we have headphones, but we communicate and learn Serbian exactly the same as we were sitting in a same room, in our comfortable chairs, at the desk. 

Then - you are enjoying in learning Serbian and becoming more confident in communication. Everybody tells you: 'You have really advanced lately!'

How well do you know CASES in Serbian ?

Cases are the important part in a process of learning Serbian language. There are 7 cases in singular and 7 cases in plural and it's not easy to know them all. For correct use of cases usually is needed to spend some time among native speakers and to be an advanced learner of Serbian. It's useful if you already know other Slavic language, because cases are characteristic of Slavic languages. How good are you in cases? Check your knowledge.

How to Make Gibanica? (Serbian Dishes - part 1)

Probably you have already tasted Serbian gibanica. It's similar to famous burek, but not completely the same. There are few versions of it. I will present you my favorite recipe for the gibanica. This version is called 'gužvara'. You may read the recipe in Serbian and in English; so, you may compare and learn some new words besides learning how to make this delicious dish. 

Potrebno Vam je: kore (1 pakovanje), 500 gr belog sira, šolja jogurta, čaša kisele vode, 5 jaja, 2 kašičice soli, decilitar ulja. 

Zagrejte rernu na 200 stepeni. Nauljite tepsiju. Stavite tri kore na dno. 

Pomešajte sir, jogurt, kiselu vodu, 4 jaja, 1,5 kašičicu soli i ulje i napravite kompaktnu smesu. 

Jednu po jednu koru umačite i smesu pa je zgužvajte i ređajte u tepsiju. Na kraju prelijte sve ostatkom smese. Stavite još dve kore preko svega. 

Umutite 1 jaje sa malo ulja i pola kašičice soli. Prelijte gibanicu.

Pecite u rerni oko 35 minuta.

Prijatno! 

You will need: kore (1 package) (I left this Serbian word, because there is no good English alternative; in Serbia ask for 'kore' and in other countries you may also find it in Turkish stores, they call it 'jufka'), 500 gr white cheese, cup of yogurt, glass of mineral water, 5 eggs, 2 teaspoons of salt, 1 deciliter of oil.

Preheat oven to 200 degrees. Take big baking dish and oil it a little bit. Place three kore on the bottom. 

Mix cheese, yogurt, mineral water, 4 eggs, 1,5 teaspoon of salt and oil, and make a compact mixture. 

Take one by one kore, crumple it, immerse it into mixture. Place them next to each other in baking dish. When you finish, pour the remains of mixture over everything. Put 2 kore on the top.

Whisk 1 egg with little bit of salt and oil. Pour that small mixture over gibanica. Then, it is ready for the oven.

Bake it in oven for about 35 minutes.

Exercise - 'Da li' sentences (Intermediate level)

Learn how to make questions in Serbian. 'Da li' sentences are the basic way of asking question, when the expected answer is Yes or No.

They always start with 'da li' and it's easier to make them in Serbian than in English.

Šta će Ana obući? (Comprehension Exercise for Advanced Learners of Serbian Language)

When you learn Serbian online, the main advice is: do as much exercises as you can find.

Look at the picture and read the text carefully. Ana and Milan are talking about her dinner plans and what clothes would be the most appropriate for the evening event. Can you answer the question: What outfit will Ana choose?

Šta će Ana obući?

Milan: Gde ideš večeras?

Ana: Jednom kolegi je rođendan, pa u firmi imamo proslavu.

Milan: U onom restoranu na sedmom spratu?

Ana: Da, tamo.

Milan: Lepo. Da li si odlučila šta ćeš obući?

Ana: Nisam još. Želim da se obučem lepo i da se doteram, ali da ne preterujem. Tako da ništa kratko ili seksi ne dolazi u obzir. 

Milan: Sećam se jednom sam te video u divnoj sivoj haljini. I lepo se slagala uz tvoju frizuru. Nosila si punđu.

Ana: Da, lepa je ta haljina. Ali je previše stroga. Ovo je ipak opušteni događaj - rođendanska žurka.

U martu je rođendan moje najmlađe sestre. Njen rođendan je na dan početka proleća. Počinju dugi dani i toplo vreme. Ptice dolaze sa juga, sleću na naš prozor i pevaju svoje pesme. 

U aprilu je Uskrs. Deca mnogo vole ovaj praznik. Tada baka i deca farbaju jaja i prave kolače.

Comprehension exercises are crucial for improving your communication skill when you learn Serbian language.

Carefully read the text in Serbian language and answer the questions about it:

Beba slon Uške živi u beogradskom Zoološkom vrtu. Njegov najbolji drug je miš Stanislav. On takođe živi u beogradskom Zoološkom vrtu, ali tajno.
Oni su najbolji prijatelji već 2 godine.
Oni se vole i brinu jedan o drugom.
Ali, jednog dana pojavio se problem. U susedni kavez došla je nova stanarka: tigrica Zlata.
Uške se odmah zaljubio u nju. Stanislav se zaljubio u nju posle pet minuta.
Dva prijatelja su se posvađali oko mlade tigrice.
Uške je poludeo od ljubavi. Pozvao je čuvara i rekao mu: 'Miš Stanislav tajno živi u Zoološkom vrtu. To je protiv pravila.'
Čuvar je uhvatio miša i izbacio ga iz Zoološkog vrta.
Tigrica Zlata ne voli Ušketa i ne obraća pažnju na njega. Ona se igra šarenom loptom i ogleda u zlatnom ogledalu.

THE ADVANTAGES OF ONLINE LESSONS

Learning via Skype is not new. For decades people all over the world learn foreign language, how to play an instrument or have business interviews via Skype or via similar tools. Even so, some people are still skeptical about this method. Here are few reasons why Serbian language lessons online might be better solution than other methods. 

1) Learning from home.

To learn new language is not easy and that's why you want to provide the most pleasant conditions for your learning. The most comfortable is learning from your own home.

2) Saving money and time which you would spend on transport.

Language learning lasts at least 6 months and often for several years. Learning Serbian is not an exception. Calculate how much money would you spend on transport to the language school or teacher's house, and back. Saving is not negligible at all.

The same goes for time saving.

3) Online lessons are more effective because they are more direct - those are face to face conversations.

When you have online lesson, the teacher is absolutely focused on student, and the other way around. Contact is direct, face to face. Nothing distracts you.

4) Learning material is free.

Before every lesson, you get lots of learning material to your e-mail (word documents, pictures, links etc.). From that moment, material belongs to you for further use with a Serbian teacher online or independently.

5) Online lessons are more interactive.

You may watch a video and comment with a teacher, you may play language game during lesson or learn Serbian by listening words of popular song. In online lessons we use all the advantages of Internet. Level of interactivity is higher than in other learning methods. As more as your senses are engaged, sooner you will learn Serbian language.

6) Online lessons are individual and adapted to student's needs.

Serbian teacher online has general learning program, which might be adapted to your personal needs. Maybe you need Serbian language for business reasons, or for family reasons, or you want to study in Serbia. Učenje putem Skajpa nije ništa novo. Već deceniju ljudi širom sveta uče strani jezik, ili sviranje muzičkog instrumenta, ili imaju poslovne intervjue, i još mnogo toga - preko interneta, pomoću Skajpa ili sličnih programa. Ipak, neki su još uvek skeptični prema ovoj metodi i misle da to nije za njih. Evo nekoliko razmišljanja na temu - zašto su časovi srpskog jezika preko interneta bolji od drugih metoda učenja.

1) Učite iz udobnosti sopstvenog doma.

Naučiti nov jezik nije lako i zato želite da obezbedite sebi najprijatnije uslove, a nigde nije komfornije nego u sopstvenom domu.

2) Ušteda vremena i novca koje biste potrošili na prevoz.

Jezik se uči najmanje šest meseci, a često i nekoliko godina. Sračunajte koliko je to novca potrošenog na put do privatnog nastavnika ili škole, i natrag. Ušteda nije nimalo mala.

Isto važi i za utrošeno vreme.

3) Onlajn časovi su efektniji jer su direktni - to je razgovor oči u oči.

Kada imate čas preko Skajpa, nastavnik je maksimalno fokusiran na učenika, i obrnuto. Kontakt je direktan, oči u oči. Ništa ne odvlači Vašu pažnju.

4) Materijal za učenje je besplatan.

Pre svakog časa na svoju imejl adresu dobijete dosta materijala za učenje, koji se sastoji od raznih word dokumenata, slika i linkova. Od tog trenutka materijal pripada Vama, i možete ga kasnije i samostalno koristiti.

5) Onlajn časovi pružaju više interaktivnosti.

Možete gledati i komentarisati sa nastavnikom video na YouTube-u, možete odigrati tokom časa igricu iz gramatike ili učiti jezik uz zvuke i reči neke pesme. Na onlajn časovima koristimo sve prednosti Interneta. Interaktivnost je važan deo onlajn časova, a što su više angažovana Vaša čula - pre ćete naučiti srpski jezik.

6) Onlajn časovi su prilagođeni potrebama učenika.

Nastavnik se pridržava generalnog plana i programa, ali u procesu učenja prilagođava se i Vašim ličnim potrebama. Onlajn časovi su vrlo individualni. Možda Vam je srpski jezik potreban da komunicirate sa porodicom i prijateljima, ili iz poslovnih razloga, ili zbog studiranja u Srbiji. Možda znate osnove gramatike, ali Vam je vokabular slaba strana, ili obrnuto; ili ste možda potpuni početnik. U svakoj od ovih situacija, onlajn časovi pružaju adekvatan odgovor.
